About the Author | Myra trained in Textile Art and Dress & Textile Design with Education at Ilkley College (University of Bradford, W. Yorks) and spent several years teaching and developing her textile skills, often combining the two. She left teaching in 2003 to explore and develop her work as a textile artist, fusing natural fibres, hand dyed fabrics, and embellished hand-made felt to create rich landscapes, sunsets or seascapes. Most recently, she has combined her felt and illustrative style to produce smaller pieces and 'wearable art'. Myra has exhibited at numerous shows, including Landmark Arts Contemporary Textile Fair, Craft @ Top Drawer and as an invited demonstrator for three years in the Specialists Craft & Design Marquee at Living Crafts Hatfield House and at their last show at Blenheim Palace. She will be showing at Ideal Homes Glasgow this May having been 'spotted' at Hatfield House. Myra has exhibited in several galleries and her work has ended up in private collections throughout the UK and the rest of Europe, America & New Zealand. She gives talks and demonstrations, runs workshops for children and adults, and is a visiting artist to local schools working on bespoke creative textile projects. Myra has a strong online presence, with her own website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Myra lives in Milton Keynes. |
